Pommelien Thijs is this year's Belgian ambassador for Record Store Day. Specially for this occasion, an exclusive 7-inch single will be released, available for free and exclusively to the first thousand RSD customers. This will be a split single with the Dutch ambassador of Record Store Day: DI-RECT. Record Store Day will be celebrated on Saturday, April 12th and takes place in fifty independent record stores across Belgium.

Pommelien: "When I was asked to become the ambassador for Record Store Day in Belgium, I immediately said yes. I love records. My own collection is still modest and in its infancy. The albums that are truly dear to me, I do have physically at home. I enjoy regularly visiting record stores. When I see the enormous selection, I realize again how many people are involved in music. That's why I find it such an inspiring environment. The stores are important, and it's good to give them extra attention on Record Store Day."

Split single with DI-RECT

The first customers who make a purchase on Saturday, April 12th at one of the participating record stores will receive a unique 7-inch vinyl single to take home: a split single by Pommelien Thijs, together with the Dutch ambassador of Record Store Day: DI-RECT. So that's a double A-side. Both artists performed at Vrienden Van Amstel Live in recent weeks, where they also performed two songs together.

The 7-inch single will be available during the record stores' celebration day on Saturday, April 12th at around 170 participating stores. Both artists will also be appearing at several stores in both the Netherlands and Belgium during Record Store Day.

Many exclusive releases appear that day which are only available in participating stores. Many shop floors also transform into stages for intimate performances and signing sessions. On Saturday, April 12th, Record Store Day will be celebrated for the sixteenth time in the Benelux. Artists such as Sylvie Kreusch, Whispering Sons, Compact Disc Dummies, Goose, and Arno preceded Pommelien Thijs as Belgian Record Store Day ambassador.
