By the end of 2020 the world will have changed completely. To find a place in this new reality Record Store Day has also been adapted. The worldwide event for record stores will therefore unfortunately not take place on 20 June next. Instead, the releases on the official RSD 2020 list will be spread over three RSD 'Drop' dates:

Saturday August 29th, Saturday September 26th and Saturday October 24th.

A new version of the list of all relevant releases, spread over the three dates, will be published on June 1. Updates can then be found on recordstorday.nl. A list of participating Belgian stores can be found here.

Record Store Day 2020 - which was originally scheduled to take place on April 18 - would already look and feel different than all the previous ten editions. Previously, it was as much about getting together, the in-store performances and celebrating the common love of music as it was about the financial bonus for the record stores. In this unprecedented situation, the focus is almost entirely on supporting the record stores.

The strangest Record Store Day year ever

The organizers of Record Store Day have looked at different dates and all kinds of ways to recreate this event. The current RSD 2020 plan to spread the attention and support over three months took into account all the information available at that time. It gives the largest possible number of record stores around the world the opportunity to participate in what will undoubtedly be the strangest Record Store Day year ever.

RSD will continue to be guided by government guidelines and scientific specialists to ensure that the RSD 'Drop' Dates will be socially responsible and safe for all concerned.

Of course we keep our fingers crossed that we will return on the 3rd Saturday of April 2021 with the biggest party of the year. RSD Black Friday is still on the planning and will take place on November 27th. Visit recordstoreday.be for regular updates.
